Memorial Hall of the Lipský family

Pelhřimov has paid tribute to its famous natives by establishing the Commemoration Hall of the Lipský Family, which was set up in the ground-floor premises of house No. 10 (the so-called Šrejnarovský dům – House of the Šrejnar Family) in Masarykovo Square. Of the Lipský family most people remember especially Oldřich Lipský, the director, and his brother Lubomír, the actor, but a lot of work for the theatre and television has also been done by other members of this famous dynasty of artists.
The exhibition is divided into 3 parts. The first one gives information about the Lipský brothers´ lives and work, about their doings in Pelhřimov and it maps their theatre activities starting with their acting in the local amateur theatre company “Rieger” and continuing with their work in “Divadlo satiry (The Satirical Theatre)” up to Lubomír´s acting in Prague theatres. Here you can also see magazine and newspaper articles and reviews of their works.
The second part of the exhibition is devoted to movie-making, you will visit a cinema where you can see a cut of the Lipský brothers´ best-known movie scenes. You will watch a sequence of scenes and roles which are well remembered by most viewers, including the excellent monologue of the alchemist interpreted by Lubomír Lipský in the film “Císařův pekař (Emperor´s Baker)”. Here you can get acquainted with all the prizes that Oldřich Lipský´s films have been awarded, you can see shots from making some movies and movie posters.
The third part is named after the film “Velká filmová loupež (The Great Film Robbery) “ made by O. Lipský. It is similar to the film in the way you can enter the stories of the most famous films by the Lipský brothers. It is possible to send plums like Mr.Hujer in “Marečku, podejte mi pero (Mr. Mareček, Pass Me the Pen, Please)”, enter a circus top and try some tricks of Cibulka the clown in “Šest medvědů s Cibulkou (Six Bears with Cibulka the Clown)” or to get around the zoophagous flower Adéla in a safe distance because you do not know if it has had dinner already or not yet (“Adéla ještě nevečeřela – Adéla Has Not Had Dinner Yet”). Here you can also open the door to get as frightened as John Camel in “Čtyři vraždy stačí, drahoušku (Four Murders Are Enough, Darling)” or try the features of the magic presents from “Tři veteráni (Three Veterans)”. Of course we cannot disclose everything because you may experience a lot more adventures here. Visiting the Commemoration Hall of the Lipský Family may be a delightful event for children as well as for adults and every visitor to this exhibition shall certainly keep a piece of wisdom and joy that members of this dynasty have spread around themselves and are doing so even now.
